Design and Editing

MODx

For my website,  currently,  I'm using MODx,  which is a CMS.  It's not the simplest CMS available,  but I'm growing to like it.  MODx won the CMS Award for Most Promising Open Source CMS in '07.  If you're looking for something a little easier and more documented,  try Joomla  or Drupal.  If you want no respect from intelligent readers,  choose Homestead or Freewebs.

Evrsoft 1stPage

Before using a content management system(CMS),  Evrsoft's 1stPage was my #1 software.  If you prefer baking a website from scratch,  I recommend using 1stPage.  It's like a Swiss Army knife for the web design.  Best part is that it doesn't put in tons of branding crap and bulky, unneccesary code.

Here's another site. They have a lot of the same photos, but there are differences. Take your pick.

Browsing

Firefox 3
If you aren't using Firefox already, you're either very new to the internet or you've been living under a rock for the past few years. Firefox is a)a smaller file size than Internet Explorer, b)works better than Internet Explorer as soon as it's installed, c) has so many customization options that you can throw out some of the software you already have, d)is more attractive and e) most importantly, is stronger against viruses, trojans and worms because it is not directly attached to Windows. Mac users use it too. Your comfort level is no excuse, because I adapted to it on the first day.
